Sino Partners advises Chinese recycling, organics and resource recovery technology providers entering Australia and New Zealand, and supports Oceania operators, councils and developers sourcing sorting, composting and processing equipment from China.
Australia's National Waste Policy Action Plan sets targets to reduce waste generated per person by 10 per cent, achieve an 80 per cent average resource recovery rate across all waste streams and halve the amount of organic waste sent to landfill, all by 2030. Federal bans on the export of unprocessed waste glass, plastic, tyres and paper are adding pressure to build onshore processing capacity.
China has scaled waste sorting, composting, anaerobic digestion, tyre processing and waste-to-energy technology faster than almost any other country. Sino Partners helps Chinese technology providers enter Oceania, and helps Australian and New Zealand operators, councils and developers source proven equipment and design compliant, bankable facilities.

Entering Australia and New Zealand
Sourcing technology and building facilities
The Recycling and Waste Reduction Act 2020 implements a staged ban on the export of unprocessed waste plastic, paper, glass and tyres, agreed by Australian governments in 2020. The aim is to build domestic capacity to generate higher-value recycled commodities and the demand to support them.
Facilities are regulated at state level, and new plant typically requires environmental protection authority licensing and planning approval. Lifecycle responsibility is also expanding: New South Wales has introduced a mandatory battery stewardship scheme under the Product Lifecycle Responsibility Act 2025.
